Why Are Some People Deaf?
- Hereditary – Genes passed on from parents
- Prenatal Exposure – If the baby catches a disease from the mum while she is pregnant it can hurt the developing baby
- Noise – Loud noise damages delicate mechanisms inside your ear
- Trauma – Changes in air pressure or being hit in the head can damage your ear or brain
- Disease – Some diseases can result in temporary or permanent deafness
- Age Related – Hearing becomes weaker as you age
- Other Causes – Exposure to chemicals or using drugs can also result in deafness
